Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) has challenged athletes and coaches to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is cultivating Christian principles in local communities nationwide by encouraging, equipping and empowering others to serve as examples and to make a difference.
FCA reaches approximately two million people annually on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels. Through the passions of athletics and faith, the ministry is changing lives in current and future generations.
FCA’s staff has grown to 1,000 in over 450 offices across the country, and our message is gaining momentum. More and more dedicated supporters and volunteers are sharing their time, talents and beliefs with those longing to be bolstered in faith. FCA’s efforts are focused on our Four C’s of Ministry: Coaches, Campus, Camps and Community.
The FCA Vision
To see the world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.
The FCA Mission
To present to coaches and athletes, and all whom they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church.
The Four C’s of Ministry:
Coaches are the heart of FCA. Our role is to minister to them by encouraging and equipping them to know and serve Christ. FCA ministers to coaches through Bible studies, prayer support, discipleship and mentoring, resources, outreach events, and retreats. FCA values coaches, first for who they are, and for what God has created them to do.
The Campus Ministry is initiated and led by student-‐athletes and coaches on junior high, high school, and college campuses. The Campus Ministry has four ministry types: Huddles, Team Bible Studies, Chaplain Programs, and Coaches Bible Studies. They have emerged over the years as effective ways to establish FCA ministry presence on campuses across the country. FCA impacts over 9,000 campuses and more than 450,000 participants. Additionally, outreach events take place on the campus, such as One Way 2 Play – Drug Free programs, school assemblies, and Fields of Faith.
FCA began with a camp. The first national FCA Camp was held at Estes Park, Colorado in 1956, with 256 athletes and coaches attending. Over the past 50+ years, we have expanded from that one camp with fewer than 300 attendees to over 350 camps and more than 50,000 coaches and athletes attending. Camp is a time of “inspiration and perspiration” for coaches and athletes to reach their potential by offering comprehensive athletic, spiritual, and leadership training. In FCA we offer seven types of camps: Sports Camps, Leadership Camps, Coaches Camps, Power Camps, Partnership Camps, Team Camps, and International Camps.
FCA has ministries that reach the community through partnerships with local churches, businesses, parents, and volunteers. These ministries not only reach out to the community, but also allow the community to invest in athletes and coaches. Non-‐school-‐based sports, adult ministries, youth sports, FCA Teams, clinics, resources, and professional athlete ministries are our main areas of ministry. Within this area are fundraising, leadership boards, booster clubs, Adult Huddles, Game Day events, and clinics.
